A small workshop, with a long memory.

Chisel & Canvas is a workshop built around the belief that the slowest part of the process, drawing, listening, then cutting, was also the most important. We design and build everything under one roof.

Hand-finished and built to outlast the space it goes into. Traditional joinery with quiet contemporary detailing, pieces that feel inevitable.

Solid timber stairs, hand-rails and balustrades. Engineered, signed off, installed.

Hand-finished hardwood kitchens with stone, brass and steel detailing.

Pivot, panel and heritage doors, including weathered hardwoods for restorations.

The process

Four phases.One workshop.

Phase 01
Conversation
We meet on site or in the studio. We listen for room, ritual and reference.
Phase 02
Drawings
Hand sketches, then CAD. Joinery details, hardware, material selection. All signed off before a board is cut.
Phase 03
Build
Materials ordered, milled, dressed and built in our local workshop. Traditional craftsmen with modern tooling.
Phase 04
Installation
Delivered, scribed and finished on site. Hand-oiled, signed and dated on the back.
